KENOSHA, Wis. – Parkside Track & Field will be well represented at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships, as four student-athletes have earned qualification for the national meet. The championships will take place May 22-24 at the CSU Pueblo Thunderbowl in Pueblo, Colorado, with Colorado State University Pueblo serving as the host.
Johanna Ebert, Doug Martin, Simon Dominic, and EJ Johnson will compete across three different events, showcasing both the talent and depth of the Rangers' program. Notably, three of the four qualifiers are freshmen, a sign of a promising future for Parkside Track & Field.
"It's pretty special for our teams to have four people in three different events qualified to the NCAA championships," said Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Nick Maas. "Especially with three of them being freshmen shows our future is bright. EJ and Simon have had a great year of jumping and are really peaking at the right time. Doug has been on a tare lately and will have a fun National meet. Johanna is still new to the steeple and seems to learn something each time she races. She'll be ready for a great race next week! We hope this shows that our 'Why Not Us?' theme for the year is really showing up!"
Ebert qualified in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:35.45, which seeds her 22nd in the event. She will compete in the preliminaries on Thursday, May 22 at 6:40 p.m. MT, with the final scheduled for Friday, May 23 at 7:15 p.m. MT.
