Kenosha, Wis. – The Parkside Rangers and Missouri S&T Miners continued their series on Friday with a doubleheader. In two dramatic baseball games, it was the Miners who came out on top, defeating Parkside 7-5 and 5-4.
GAME ONE
The Miners erupted for four runs in the first inning, capped by a three-run homer from Bricen Smith, and never trailed. Beckham added a solo shot in the third, while Garrett Meyer and Nick Krodinger each drove in runs.
Parkside responded with three runs in the fourth, aided by a pair of Missouri S&T errors. Dylan Sayles led the Rangers with a 3-for-3 day, including a solo home run and a ground-rule double, while John Wubben and John St. Clair each added sacrifice flies.
Jacob Cook earned the win in relief, tossing 2.1 innings and allowing just one run. Bode Gebbink closed the door in the seventh for his third save. Sam Mommer took the loss for Parkside, surrendering six runs (five earned) over six innings.
GAME TWO
The Miners broke open a scoreless game with four runs in the fifth, highlighted by Baugus' blast to right-center following a pair of hit batters and a stolen base. Beckham doubled and later scored on Nick Krodinger's RBI single to cap the inning. He extended the lead to 5-0 with a solo homer in the seventh.
Parkside mounted a furious rally in the bottom of the seventh, scoring four runs on three hits and three hit batters. Austin Drayna and John St. Clair delivered RBI singles before Owen Brock and Carter Storti each drew bases-loaded walks to pull within one. However, Gebbink came on in relief and induced a game-ending double play to record his fourth save.
Jake Schisler (5-3) earned the win for Missouri S&T, tossing 6.1 innings of one-run ball with five hits and one walk. Parkside starter Keegan Waters did not allow a hit through 4.1 innings but was charged with two runs and four walks. Aben Beinlich (0-1) took the loss after surrendering Baugus' home run to the only batter he faced.
Parkside was led by St. Clair and Sayles, who each had hits and runs scored in the late-inning push.
