Kenosha, Wis. – Parkside got back into the win column with a shutout victory over Missouri S&T on Thursday. Allen Leitner provided a masterclass, dealing eight scoreless innings as the Rangers rode the momentum of a big fourth inning to a 7-0 win in the series opener.
How it happened:
The Rangers wasted little time breaking the game open, plating six runs in the fourth inning to seize control. Peter Fusek launched a three-run bomb to left-center—his third homer of the year—to punctuate the outburst, while Owen Brock followed with a two-run shot of his own to make it 6-0.
Fusek continued his standout performance with a 2-for-5 day that included three RBIs, two stolen bases, and even a scoreless ninth inning on the mound to slam the door. Brock went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs as well, helping the Rangers rack up 14 hits on the day.
But the spotlight belonged to Allen Leitner, who carved through the Miners' lineup with poise and precision. The right-hander fired eight shutout innings, scattering just four hits and striking out three to improve to 4-2 on the season. He faced just two batters over the minimum through the first eight innings and needed only 114 pitches in the effort. This marked the longest outing for a Parkside starter since 2022.
Missouri S&T never found a rhythm offensively, hampered by three defensive errors and an inability to capitalize with runners on base.
Max Johnson added a two-hit game for Parkside, while Nathan Hanel reached base twice, scored twice, and drove in a run during the fourth-inning rally.
Parkside snapped its four-game losing streak and improved to 24-12 on the season.
