Grand Rapids, Mich. – Parkside suffered defeat on Sunday, getting swept by Davenport in the four-game series. Davenport's lethal offense was once again the story, this time scoring an eye-popping 19 runs.
How it happened:
Despite the lopsided final score, the Rangers found a few bright spots at the plate, including Carter Storti, who launched his second home run of the season — a two-run shot in the fourth inning that briefly cut into Davenport's early lead.
Peter Fusek added a single and scored on Storti's blast, while Sam Mommer and Jacob York each recorded base hits in the fifth to give Parkside a chance to extend the inning. However, the Panthers turned a key double play to squash the momentum.
The Rangers cycled through seven different pitchers in search of a steady hand to slow the Davenport bats. Charlie Campbell provided a brief highlight, retiring both batters he faced in the sixth. Davenport pounded out 19 hits — including four home runs — en route to a run-rule win after seven innings.
This marks Parkside's fourth loss in a row, dropping them to 23-12 overall and 8-8 in conference play.
