LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Mia Johnson's play this past week has gained national attention, as she has been selected as NFCA/Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week. It's the first time a Ranger received the award in head coach Kristin Ortman's tenure.

"It was exciting to see Mia have such a great performance at the plate and on defense for opening weekend of GLIAC play. Her hard work and dedication are really paying off, and it's inspiring to see her bring that level of energy and focus to the field. Mia's performance not only set the tone for our team but also showed just how much potential we have as the season progresses," said Ortman.

Johnson was impressive for the Rangers, helping them to a 3-1 start in conference play. Johnson would bat .600 across four games. She clubbed a total of five home runs, including four in the Rangers doubleheader against Grand Valley State. In total Johnson was responsible for driving in 11 runs and collected nine extra base hits. She now leads the Rangers in multiple categories on the year including batting average (.368), OPS (1.311), home runs (9), and RBIs (24). 

In the field Johnson was just as impressive. The junior recorded 10 putouts while playing at third base and behind the dish for Parkside. She held a perfect 1.000% fielding percentage across the four games played this past week.
