Preview: Rangers Prepped for Final Road Trip of the Regular Season

KENOSHA, Wis. – The Parkside men's basketball program is preparing for their final regular season road trip. The Rangers will open the week in Sault Ste. Marie as they will face the No. 19 Lakers of Lake Superior State. Tip is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. EST. The team will then round out the week in Big Rapids as they face No. 24 Ferris State. Quick Hits
  • The last time the Rangers faced these two sqauds Lake Superior State was ranked No. 6 in Division II and Ferris State No. 4. The Rangers pulled off two massive upsets in De Simone Arena and will look to do the same this week on the road.
  • The Rangers are coming off a 2-0 week where they topped Davenport and Grand Valley State in De Simone Arena. The Rangers are currently riding a five game win streak, the largest active win streak in the GLIAC.
  • Jack Rose enters the week once again as the Rangers leading scorer. The junior is averaging 16.4 ppg and shooting at a 44% clip.
 
Scouting Lake Superior State
The Lakers are coming off a 1-1 week on the road. They defeated Northern Michigan 80-74 but would fall to Michigan Tech 80-75. They currently sit at 21-5 overall and 12-4 in GLIAC play. They sit in second place in the GLIAC, just a game above the Rangers. The Lakers are also currently ranked No. 19 in Division II.
 
LSSU's offense is powered by Tyson Edmonson who leads the team in ppg with 16.2. Teammate Kingsely Perkins is also another strong scorer for the Lakers. Perkins is currently averaging 12.8 ppg and scored a team high 14 points in the previous match up against the Rangers.
 
On the defensive end for the Lakers they are led by Hunter Soper. Soper was voted the most recent GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week after his performances against NMU and MTU where he pulled down 12 boards, recorded six steals and three blocks. It's his fifth time receiving the award this season. The senior is currently averaging 7.0 rpg and pairs it with an 11.5 ppg average.
 
Scouting Ferris State
The Bulldogs enter the week after going 1-1 in the week previous. Much like the Lakers, the Bulldogs would top Northern Michigan 91-84 but fall to Michigan Tech 75-63 with both games on the road. Ferris State sits at 21-6 overall and 11-5 in GLIAC play and are currently tied with the Rangers for third place. FSU enters this week ranked No. 24 in the nation in Division II.
 
The Bulldog offense is led by Ethan Erickson. Erickson averages a team leading 16.9 ppg. In his most recent outing the senior dropped a season high 31 points in the Bulldogs victory over Northern Michigan. Teammate Tyler Hamilton is the second leading scorer for Ferris State at 11.1 ppg. In the previous match up against the Rangers, Hamilton led the way with 21 points off the bench and was the only Bulldog to record double figures in the scoring column in the loss.
 
Defensively for the Bulldogs they are led by Nathan Claerbaut. Claerbaut averages a team leading 6.7 rpg. The big man is also a key rim protector for Ferris State as he averages 2.5 blocks per game.
