KENOSHA, Wis. – The Parkside men's basketball team returned to action on Thursday evening. The Rangers hosted the Davenport Panthers in De Simone Arena, winning in a dominate fashion 71-51.
Inside the Box Score
- Nick Brown recorded his first double-double of the season this evening. Brown dropped a team high 16 points in the effort and pulled down 10 boards for the Rangers.
- The Rangers defense showed out, forcing 12 Panther turnovers while holding them to just 51 points, a new defensive low for the Rangers this season.
- Including Brown, the Rangers had four players reach double digits in the scoring column. Fawaz Surakat posted a new career high with 15 points off the bench for the Rangers. Jack Rose supplied the Rangers with 14 points and teammate Josiah Palmer chipped in 12 points in the effort, including six assists.
How It Happened
The game would open with some back and forth basketball. There would be four lead changes within the first nine minutes of action with neither team taking more than a four point lead. A
Rokas Castillo three pointer would put the Rangers ahead at the 11:43 mark of the first half. The Rangers would never look back as they would stretch their lead to nine points entering the halftime break with the 35-26 lead.
Fawaz Surakat would lead the first half charge for the Rangers, recording 10 of his 15 points in the opening half of play.
Josiah Palmer would have a game high four assists at the halftime break. The Rangers would also commit just one turnover in the first 20 minutes of play.
The Rangers would come out of the halftime break and immediately stretch their lead to double digits on a
Jack Rose jumper. Rose's bucket would mark the start of a 19-9 run for the Rangers, that would be capped off by a pair of Palmer threes with 12:38 left in the game.
Parkside would continue to put the pressure on the Panthers, building their lead to as much as 21 points. In the end the Rangers would outpace the Panthers en route to a 71-51 victory.
