Rangers Extend Win Streak to Five Games with Victory Over GVSU

KENOSHA, Wis. – The Parkside men's basketball team returned to action in De Simone Arena on Saturday afternoon. The Rangers took on the Lakers of Grand Valley State and avenged their earlier season loss 80-72. The Rangers now move to 11-5 in GLIAC play and have stretched their win streak to five games.

  • Jack Rose would lead the way for the Rangers offensively. Rose notched 23 points while shooting 7-16 from the floor in the victory.
  • Nick Brown and Josiah Palmer added 19 points each in the effort. Palmer also added a game high seven assists. Brown knocked down a career high five triples in the win.
 
How it Happened
The Rangers would come out of the gates hot, utilizing their three-point shot to take an early 9-3 lead over the Lakers within the first two minutes of action. Parkside would keep up the pace, holding a decent lead over the Lakers through the first part of the first half. The Rangers would build their lead to as much as 10 points in the 7:04 mark on a Brown three pointer.
 
The Lakers would come alive in the final five minutes of the first half. They would outscore the Rangers 13-2 to close out the half and take away the Rangers lead to head into the halftime break in a 37-37 deadlock.
 
Parkside would come out hot out of the gates in the second half again. An Ethan Ivan triple would break the deadlock and give the Rangers the lead on the opening possession of the second half.
 
The Rangers would once again build out a double digit lead on a Nick Brown slam.
 
The Lakers would not go away that easily, as they would once again mount another massive 15-5 run to trim the Rangers lead down to just one point at 60-59 with 8:26 to go in the game. The Rangers would slam the door shut, growing the lead back out to double digits. The Rangers would cruise to an 80-72 victory.
