Records Fall As Parkside Has Big Season Opening Meet

KENOSHA, Wis. — Parkside Track & Field opened its 2025 indoor season with an impressive showing at the Forever Red Alumni Classic on the campus of Carthage College, earning numerous top-ten finishes across sprints, hurdles, jumps, throws, and relays.

EJ Johnson, Rachel Blaskowski and Nailah Taylor stole the show on Saturday, putting up NCAA Provo marks. Johnson's mark of 2.16m currently leads all of NCAA Division II in the high jump. Blaskowski's jump of 5.95m is sixth nationally in the long jump and Taylor's mark of 1.67m is eighth nationally in the high jump. 

Three school records fell on Saturday. Johnson set a new school record in the high jump, while Brooke Mader broke her own school record in the weight throw with a mark of 15.60m and first year Dani Reimer set a new school record in the 55m hurdles with a time of 8.57. 

Parkside started fast in the men's 55 meters, placing four in the top seven. Jalon Rose and Lincoln Myer tied for runner-up honors in 6.52, with Rose earning second by thousandths of a second. Jadon Rose took fourth in 6.58, while Mikhail Bolden finished sixth in 6.62. On the women's side, Mayda Conrad led Parkside with a fourth-place finish in 7.42, followed by Anna Snorek in fifth at 7.45 and Lauren Wiitanen in seventh at 7.67.

The Rangers were strong in the hurdles, highlighted by a victory from Michael Hendrix in the men's 55m hurdles in 7.63. Mate Pesti finished second in 7.70, while Nicholas Katsma placed fifth in 8.60 and Carson Hull seventh in 8.79. In the women's hurdles, Dani Riemer took second in 8.57, followed by third-place finisher Miranda Winkler in 8.68 and fourth-place Lainey Fredrick in 9.42.

Parkside earned quality results in the 200 meters as well. For the men, Jaylan Nelson placed second in 23.10, and Ramere Jackson took fifth in 23.71. In the women's 200, Savannah Torrence finished fifth in 27.90 and Lauren Wiitanen placed tenth in 28.56.

The Rangers showed depth in the 400 meters. Snorek returned to take the win in the women's race with a time of 59.78, while teammates Jacy Boberg (1:05.00) and Delilah Rodriguez (1:06.18) finished fourth and sixth. On the men's side, Carter Peet took second in 52.58, Levi Krautkramer finished fourth in 52.77, and Aubrey Powers placed sixth in 53.71.

Parkside's jumpers put together one of the strongest event groups of the day. In the men's high jump, EJ Johnson won with a clearance of 2.16m (7-01.00), and Simon Dominic followed in second with a jump of 2.00m (6-06.75). Ariel Molina finished sixth at 1.85m (6-00.75). The women nearly swept the podium, with Nailah Taylor winning at 1.67m (5-05.75), followed by Delaney McMahon in second at 1.57m (5-01.75) and Fredrick in third at 1.52m (4-11.75).

The men's long jump group placed five in the top nine, led by Myer's third-place leap of 6.76m (22-02.25) and Hull's fourth-place mark of 6.74m (22-01.50). Molina added a sixth-place jump of 6.56m (21-06.25), followed by seventh-place Aaron Mueller at 6.47m (21-02.75) and ninth-place Johnson with a mark of 6.38m (20-11.25). In the women's long jump, Rachel Blaskowski opened her season with a win at 5.95m (19-06.25). Riemer finished second at 5.43m (17-09.75), while freshmen Analisia Melendez (5.19m / 17-00.50) and Avah Banks (5.17m / 16-11.50) placed fourth and fifth. Lopez added a seventh-place finish at 5.14m (16-10.50).

Riemer carried her momentum into the triple jump, placing second with a mark of 11.41m (37-05.25). Winkler finished third at 10.58m (34-08.50), Banks took fourth at 10.36m (34-00.00), Lopez placed fifth at 10.31m (33-10.00), and Melendez finished seventh at 10.10m (33-01.75). On the men's side, Gabe Runkel placed ninth at 11.59m (38-00.25).

In the pole vault, Ryan Peel finished second for the men after clearing 4.30m (14-01.25), and Kalista Butkiewicz took second for the women at 3.25m (10-08.00).

Parkside also performed well in the throws. Garlock earned a fourth-place finish in the men's weight throw with a personal-best 14.31m (46-11.50), followed by Kaelan McDonough in fifth at 13.25m (43-05.75) and Chris Carlson in sixth with a personal-best 13.19m (43-03.25). In the women's weight throw, Mader led the group with a second-place mark of 15.60m (51-02.25). Vlies placed fourth with a personal-best 14.93m (48-11.75), while Hanshaw finished seventh at 14.17m (46-06.00) and Davis took eighth with a throw of 13.54m (44-05.25). In the women's shot put, Vlies finished fifth at 11.44m (37-06.50) and Hanshaw placed sixth at 11.00m (36-01.25).

The Rangers closed the meet with victories in both 4x400m relays. The women's team of Hannah Keeton, Rodriguez, Torrence, and Snorek won in 4:21.11. The men's "B" relay of Braydon Dowler, Dalton Metzdorf, Powers, and Peet also took the win, clocking 3:33.06.
