KENOSHA, Wis. — Parkside men's basketball closes the 2025 calendar year this week with a pair of non-conference matchups against familiar GLVC opponents, beginning with a home contest against UIndy on Tuesday night before traveling to Romeoville, Illinois for a Saturday road test against Lewis.

The two games mark the Rangers' final action of 2025 and their final non-conference contests of the season, as Parkside continues an early schedule that has already featured several GLVC foes. UIndy and Lewis will be the fourth and fifth GLVC opponents Parkside has faced this year.

Parkside enters the week coming off its third consecutive loss, a 61-56 decision at Missouri-St. Louis on Saturday in the Rangers' first road game of the season. UMSL controlled the opening half with a 28-21 lead and won the points-off-turnovers battle 16-4, holding Parkside to 36% shooting for the game. The Tritons also limited the Rangers to four offensive rebounds and 20 points in the paint, preventing Parkside from fully closing the gap despite a late rally. True freshman Logan Zahour scored a career-high 13 points for his first career double-figure outing, while Ethan Ivan added 10 points. The loss dropped Parkside back under .500 heading into the final week of the year.

Through seven games, Parkside is averaging 75.0 points per game while allowing 71.1. The Rangers are shooting 45% from the field and 36% from three, while continuing to lean heavily on free-throw efficiency at 76% as a team. Parkside is averaging 17.9 made free throws per game, along with 33.4 rebounds, 12.9 assists, 6.7 steals and 3.0 blocks per contest.

Individually, redshirt junior Luka Mateski has emerged as one of the most efficient scorers in Division II. Mateski leads the GLIAC in free-throw percentage at 97% (55-57), ranks fourth nationally in FT%, 22nd nationally in free throws made (55), and 72nd nationally in free-throw attempts (57). He also ranks third in the GLIAC in scoring at 17.7 points per game.

Senior Paxton Warden ranks fifth in the GLIAC in scoring at 16.8 points per game, providing consistent perimeter production. In the frontcourt, Fawaz Surakat ranks fourth in the GLIAC in rebounding at 7.7 rebounds per game and second in the conference in blocks at 2.1 per game, totaling 15 blocks on the season. In the backcourt, Braden McGlothlin ranks sixth in the GLIAC in steals at 1.7 per game, while graduate guard Josiah Palmer ranks sixth in assists at 3.7 per game, adding 10.9 points per contest and a team-high 17 made three-pointers.

SCOUTING UINDY:
UIndy enters Tuesday's matchup at 5-3 overall, including a 1-1 mark on the road. The Greyhounds are coming off a 69-64 home win over Missouri–St. Louis last Saturday, improving to 3-0 in GLVC play.

In that victory, UIndy shot 47% from the field, won the rebounding battle 34-24, and scored 20 points off turnovers. The Greyhounds pulled away late behind Carmelo Harris, who scored a game-high 25 points on 8-of-16 shooting, including three three-pointers, while going 6-for-6 at the free-throw line. Shaun Arnold added 14 points, 10 rebounds and five assists.

For the season, UIndy is averaging 74.1 points per game while allowing 67.3. The Greyhounds are shooting 45% from the field and 36% from three and lead the GLVC in bench scoring at 32.3 points per game, a mark that ranks inside the national top 50. UIndy also averages 7.8 steals per contest and has consistently generated offense through its depth.

Harris, a two-time All-GLIAC honoree from Wayne State, ranks second in the GLVC in three-point percentage at 47%, fourth in three-pointers made per game at 3.1, third in total three-pointers made with 25, and third in free-throw percentage at 90%. Arnold averages 10.4 points and a team-high 7.3 rebounds per game, while also leading the Greyhounds with 20 steals.

Picked sixth in the GLVC preseason poll, UIndy is in its second season under head coach Scott Heady, who looks to build on last year's 9-11 conference finish. The Greyhounds returned three role players and added nine newcomers, including 2024 G-MAC Freshman of the Year Nate Dudukovich.

All-time, Parkside is 13-18 against UIndy since the first meeting in 1995. The series has been evenly split over the last 10 meetings. The teams last met at the 2023 Midwest Region Crossover in Owensboro, Kentucky, where Parkside earned a 79-71 win behind 26 points and five made threes from Palmer. In Kenosha, Parkside is 6-8 against the Greyhounds and dropped the most recent home meeting in 2017.

SCOUTING LEWIS:
Lewis enters the week at 2-6 overall and 1-2 in GLVC play but carries momentum after snapping a six-game skid with back-to-back wins. The Flyers earned an 86-83 road win at Wayne State on Saturday after also defeating last year's GLVC Tournament champion earlier in the week.

Against Wayne State, Lewis shot 55% from the field, scored 46 points in the paint and outscored the Warriors 50-44 in the second half. Arius Alijosius recorded a career night with 28 points on 10-of-15 shooting, including four three-pointers, while Cale Cosme added 15 points.

On the season, Lewis is averaging 65.1 points per game, ranking last in the GLVC in scoring, while allowing 74.0. The Flyers rank near the bottom of the league in assists at 10.0 per game and steals at 4.3 per game, relying heavily on efficiency and paint production to stay competitive.

Alijosius leads Lewis at 15.9 points per game while shooting 44% from three (24-54). Cosme adds 13.3 points per game, providing a secondary scoring option inside. Picked seventh in the GLVC preseason poll, Lewis is in its first season under head coach Nick Rocco, returning five players from last year's roster while welcoming 10 newcomers, including multiple Division I transfers.

All-time, Parkside is 15-18 against Lewis since the first meeting in 1995. The Flyers have won the last two meetings, including a 62-56 decision in Kenosha last season. Parkside is 5-9 all-time in Romeoville and has lost four of the last five meetings since leaving the GLVC in 2018. Saturday marks the fourth matchup between the programs since that departure.

LOOKING AHEAD:
Following Saturday's game, the Rangers will break for the holidays before returning to GLIAC play on New Year's Day, hosting Roosevelt at 3 p.m. in Kenosha.
