Preview: Rangers to Return Home For Two GLIAC Contests

KENOSHA, Wis. – The Parkside men's basketball program is set for a four game homestand starting this week. The Rangers will open the homestand hosting Saginaw Valley State on Thursday evening. Tip is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CST. The Rangers will then round out the week hosting Wayne State on Saturday. Saturday's tip is scheduled for 3 p.m. CST. Quick Hits
  • The Rangers are currently sitting at 6-4 in GLIAC play. Northern Michigan and Grand Valley State have the same record in conference play and are in a three way tie with the Rangers. Above the three teams are Ferris State, Lake Superior State, and Michigan Tech who are in a three way tie at 8-2 in conference play.
  • Josiah Palmer is coming off a strong week, where he averaged 21 points over the two games played. In the Rangers win over Davenport Palmer had a team high 24 points in the winning effort.

Scouting Saginaw Valley State
The Rangers and Cardinals first met this season in University Center back on January 11th. Parkside handled business from start to finish, topping SVSU 77-66. Ethan Ivan would turn in a career performance in the win, posting a career high 22 points in the victory while shooting 9-12 from the field.
 
Since playing the Rangers the Cardinals have gone 1-3, picking up their lone win in their most recent game against Roosevelt. SVSU would beat the Lakers 79-61 in front of their home crowd.
 
Freddie McIntosh has been the go to guy for SVSU as of late. The senior is the Cardinals leading scorer at 14.7 ppg. He is the team's best three point shooter, currently shooting at a 36.8% clip this season while shooting an average of eight threes per game.
 
Scouting Wayne State
Parkside and Wayne State first squared off this year back on January 9th in Detroit. The Warriors would get the best of the Rangers 65-61 in a down to the wire battle. Josiah Palmer would be the Rangers leading scorer in the loss, notching 16 points in the effort.
 
The Warriors have gone 3-2 since their victory over the Rangers. WSU knocked off the likes of Saginaw Valley State, Northern Michigan, and PNW.
 
Wayne State is led by Rob Lee Jr. who is averaging a team high 15.7 ppg. In the Warriors win over Northern Michigan Lee Jr. collected an astonishing 40 points which garnered him GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week honors. The sophomore guard is shooting at a 45.6% clip from the field and 40% from three point land.
