Preview: Rangers Will Look to Stay Hot on Another GLIAC Road Trip

KENOSHA, Wis. – The Parkside men's basketball team is set for another GLIAC road trip this week. On the dock et for the Rangers is a Thursday night showdown against Grand Valley State with tip set for 8 p.m. EST. Parkside will then round out the trip at Davenport on Saturday. Tip in Grand Rapids is set for 3 p.m. EST.

  • The Rangers have been hot since the turn of the new year. Parkside has gone 5-1 in the month of January, most recently picking up two top ten victories over No. 4 Ferris State and No. 6 Lake Superior State. 
  • In the new year the Rangers are shooting 44.4% from the field. Ethan Ivan has had the hot hand for the Rangers in 2025, shooting a blazing 59.3% from the field and 58.6% from beyond the arc.

Scouting Grand Valley State
The Lakers enter the week with the same overall record as the Rangers at 8-8. And just like the Rangers, GVSU is coming off a 2-0 week heading into this week's action. The Lakers picked up wins over Roosevelt and Davenport. 

Grand Valley State's offense is led by Kaden Brown who averages 14.4 ppg. Brown shoots at a 42.4% clip from the field and 41.1% from deep. Including Brown, the Lakers have four player averaging double figures in the scoring column. Teammate Jalen Charity has been getting it done on the defensive end for the Lakers. Charity has 13 blocks and 12 steals so far on the year. 

Scouting Davenport
The Panthers currently sit at 5-11 overall and just 1-7 in GLIAC play. Davenport's lone GLIAC win came back on January 4th when the Panthers topped the Huskies of Michigan Tech in a down to the wire game 73-71. 

Davenport's offense has been led by Jovan Tucker who is averaging 15.3 ppg, a mark good enough to be in the top ten scorers in the GLIAC. Tucker is shooting at a 49.2% clip on the season. Teammate Matyas Vrabel gets the job done inside for the Panthers. The freshman forward shoots at a 53.8% clip and is coming off a 20 point performance against Roosevelt. He also pulls down a team high 7.2 rpg.
