Preview: Parkside to Welcome Two Ranked Teams in De Simone Arena

KENOSHA, Wis. -- The Parkside men's basketball team is set for two ranked opponents in this week's GLIAC action. The Rangers will open with No. 4 Ferris State on Thursday evening with tip scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CST. They will then welcome No. 6 Lake Superior State to De Simone Arena on Saturday with a 3 p.m. CST tip. Coverage for both games can be accessed at ParksideRangers.com/coverage.

Scouting Ferris State
The No. 4 ranked Bulldogs enter the week with an impressive 16-1 record and has yet to drop a GLIAC contest as they are 6-0 in conference play. Ferris State is currently on a 16 game winning streak as their lone loss of the season was their season opener against West Texas A&M. Since then the Bulldogs have outscored their opponents by 353 points. 

The Ferris State offense is anchored by Ethan Erickson. Erickson, a senior, is currently averaging a team leading 17.5 ppg. He shoots above a 40% clip from the field and from beyond the arc and has started in every game for the Bulldogs. FSU has a strong three point shot, with seven player shooting above 50% from three on the season. 

On the defensive end the Bulldogs lean on junior Nathon Claerbaut. Claerbaut is pulling down an average of 7.1 rpg while also swatting 3 bpg. Jimmy Scholler plays a pivotal role for the Bulldogs, picking away an average of 1.2 spg. In their winning streak, Ferris State allows offenses to score just 66.7 ppg. The Rangers have gotten just win when scoring 67 points or less this season. 

Scouting Lake Superior State
Entering the week ranked No. 6 in the country, Lake Superior State enters this week with a 14-2 record. Their lone conference loss came at the hands of Ferris State in a narrow 83-81 game in Big Rapids. Since that loss to the Bulldogs the Lakers have gone on a seven game win streak that they will put on the line on Thursday against PNW. 

The Lakers have outscored their opponents 1,279-1,069 this season. Their offense runs through Tyson Edmondson. Edmondson, recently named to the Bevo Francis Top 100 Watch List, is averaging a team leading 16.4 ppg. He is currently shooting 47.1% from the floor entering this week while averaging 30 plus minutes on the floor per game. The Lakers offense features five players averaging double digits in the scoring column including Edmondson. 

Defensively the Lakers look to Hunter Soper who has been the Lakers glass cleaner. The senior forward is pulling down a team leading 7.2 rpg for the Lakers. He has also swiped a team leading 25 steals and swatting a team high 15 blocks.
