Rangers Handle Business and Sweep Lakers on the Road

CHICAGO, Ill. – Fresh of a sweep of PNW just two days ago, the Rangers volleyball team returned to action on Saturday afternoon against the Roosevelt Lakers. The Rangers once again handled business, sweeping the Lakers in three sets.

"Always good to get a road win in conference play especially in a new environment. Although we didn't think we played our best, I am proud how we were able to find a way to get the job done," head coach Leigh Barea said after the Rangers third straight victory.

Inside the Box Score
  • Sam Fisch was solid once again, delivering a team high 14 kills for the Rangers.
  • Sophomore Sierra Kilbourn turned in a solid performance with 11 kills with a .304 attack percentage.
  •  The Rangers as a team had a .260 attack percentage compared to the Lakers attack percentage of .131.

How It Happened
The road Rangers were ready to roll in set one as Parkside would lead the entirety of the set.  Sam Fisch would lead the way for the Rangers, recording six of her 14 kills in the opening set. Fellow sophomore Sierra Kilbourn would aid the Rangers with three major kills midway through the set to help lift Parkside to the 25-21 first set victory.

The second set was much the same for the Rangers. As a team, Parkside would swing a game high .295 in the second set of action. Fisch and Kilbourn would combine for nine of the Rangers 16 kills. The Rangers would take set two handily 25-18 which would be their largest margin of victory in the match.

The third set featured a bit more back and forth action between the two sides. There would be five total lead changes, the most of any set of the afternoon. Parkside would have eight different Rangers record kills in the set with Kilbourn leading the way with four. Parkside would handle business and take the final set 25-22.
