Rangers Fall in Home Opener

Kenosha, Wis. - In their 2024 GLIAC home opener, the Parkside Rangers suffered a defeat at the hands of the Northern Michigan Wildcats. Northern Michigan finished the match with a brilliant .357 hitting percentage, taking down Parkside in three sets.

How it happened: 
Early in the first set, Lindsay Krznarich got the Rangers going with three quick kills. Krznarich provided energy throughout, tallying four total kills in the set. However, the Rangers struggled as a team, hitting just .077 and committing seven errors in the opening set, falling 25-23. 

Parkside controlled the second set, leading 23-19. However, the Wildcats overcame the four-point deficit and took the final six points to win the set. Meghan Meyer led Northern Michigan, attacking at a remarkable .643 clip and registering a game-high 10 kills. Northern Michigan's middle block was dominant, with McKenzie Gruner adding nine kills. The Rangers couldn't find their rhythm, committing 22 attack errors throughout the match.

In the third set, Sierra Kilbourn and Delaney Molloy made their season debuts and delivered big plays. Kilbourn recorded her first kill of the season, and Molloy earned her first career dig with an incredible effort.

After the loss, the Rangers' record dropped to 4-5 overall and 0-1 in conference play.
