Parkside Suffers Defeat in Series Opener

River Forest, IL - In the opening game of a four game set with the Davenport Panthers, the Parkside Rangers were defeated. Davenport dropped season-high in runs and took Parkside down, 15-3.

How it happened:
Although there were a ton of runs scored, the ball game was scoreless after two innings. However, both teams were threatening to draw first blood. After two innings, both teams had left three runners on base. In the third inning, the Panthers finally broke the ice. They scored three runs in the third inning, and then scored an additional four runs in the fourth inning. Three runs in the fourth came off one swing of the bat, as Anthony Aloisio smoked a three-run bomb. Within the blink of an eye, they led 7-0 behind six hits in the two innings.

Parkside scraped a run across in the bottom of the fourth and chipped away. After Carter Storti reached an error to begin the inning, Jude Allen followed with his second hit of the game. Storti would then score on a Koto Sato RBI groundout. The Rangers trailed by six runs after four innings of baseball and the Panthers were far from done.

In the sixth inning, Davenport added two more runs to their lead. Mikey Tchavdaro highlighted the inning with the second Davenport home run of the game, sending it over the centerfield fence. In the bottom half of the inning, another Parkside run was sparked by Jude Allen. Storti and Allen hit back-to-back singles to begin the frame. The next hitter, Owen Brock, brought Storti home and scored Parkside's second run. They trailed 9-2 after six innings of baseball.

In the next inning, Davenport dealt their last major blow. They dropped four runs in the inning and led 13-2 at the end of the seventh.

In the eighth inning, Parkside scored their final run. The same players who scored the first pair of runs were responsible for this final run. Carter Storti began the inning with a double off of the right field fence, his second hit of the game. Jude Allen followed with his fourth hit of the game. It marked the first time in Allen's career that he hit safely four times in a collegiate game. Allen would later score on an error for Parkside's third and final run.

Davenport defeated Parkside, handing Parkside their 20th loss of the season. The Rangers drop to 16-20 overall and 5-13 in GLIAC play. They currently trail Davenport by two full games in the GLIAC standings with three more games to go against them this weekend.
