Preview: Rangers to Take on GVSU in GLIAC Tournament Semifinal

KENOSHA, Wis. -- The No. 5 Parkside women's basketball team is set to take on No. 1 Grand Valley State in the GLIAC Tournament Semifinal match-up on Saturday afternoon. Tip off from Allendale is set for 2 p.m. EST. Coverage for the game can be found at ParksideRangers.com/coverage

  • The Rangers enter the Semifinal game after knocking off No. 4 Michigan Tech in Hougton on Wednesday night 51-49. It's Parkside's first semifinal berth since the 2020-21 season.

Scouting Grand Valley State
GVSU swept the Rangers in the regular season series. The last game of the series, played in Kenosha on February 15th, was close as the Rangers led at the half until the Lakers pulled away in the second half to win 76-63. Read more about that game here

The top seeded Lakers defeated PNW 65-54 to advance to the Semifinal game against Parkside. GVSU is led by recently voted GLIAC Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the year Rylie Bisballe. Bisballe enters Saturday's game shooting 52.4% from the field, averaging 13.1 ppg. She is also leading the Lakers in rebounding at 7.1 per game. GVSU also touts the GLIAC Sixth Woman of the Year in Nicole Kamin. Kamin is coming off a hot performance against PNW where she scored a team high 18 points and added three steals defensively. 

Series History
The Rangers have only beaten the Lakers just three times as the series is heavily in favor of the Lakers 16-3. Parkside will look to snap a six game losing streak to GVSU, their last win coming in the 2021 GLIAC Quarterfinal game.
