Marquette, MI - After losing a nail biter to Northern Michigan just three weeks ago, Parkside once again fell to the top team in the GLIAC. Parkside was outscored by 13 points in the second half, which led Northern Michigan to an 81-67 victory.
Inside the box score:
-
Nick Brown tied a career-high 16 points for the second time in three games. Brown knocked down four triples on five tries
-
Colin O'Rourke scored 16 points with five rebounds
-
Parkside received just 11 bench points, nine of them coming from Jack Rose
How it happened:
Similar to the first time these teams played in Kenosha, the first half was a back-and-forth battle. Neither team was willing to prevail as they exchanged blows in the first 20 minutes. Coming off a brilliant weekend, Josiah Palmer had several big plays in the first half. Palmer was able to be effective as he not only hit his shots, but also found Colin O'Rourke inside for an easy bucket. Palmer, who leads the conference in assists per game, recorded four assists in the contest.
Northern Michigan never possessed a lead that was larger than just a few possessions. Nick Brown had his best shooting performance of the season, he continued to hit critical shots as the opening half winded down. Brown hit four threes for the fourth time of his career, and the first time this season.
Thanks to a last minute hoop-and-harm from Jack Rose, Parkside went into the halftime break trailing just a singular point.
Parkside kept the battle very close through the first 10 minutes of the second half. Rose continued to provide support off the bench as he nailed a triple four minutes in.
With 10:30 to go, Parkside pulled within four points after an Ethan Ivan made inside the paint.
Parkside was only able to manage just nine points in the final ten and half minutes of action. Northern Michigan completed a season sweep over Parkside with the win. Parkside fell to 11-11 overall and 6-6 in GLIAC play. They remain in fifth place in the GLIAC with four games to play.
