HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Parkside men's basketball team returned to the hardwood on Thursday evening. The Rangers opened Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play on the road against the Huskies of Michigan Tech. MTU handed the Rangers a GLIAC opening loss, 80-54.

How it Happened
The first half would be all Huskies. Michigan Tech would limit the Parkside offense to post just 21 first half points, tying their season low. The Huskies would come out of the gates hot, mounting a 17-2 run in the first five and half minutes of the game. The Rangers had no answer for the Huskies offense, as they would swell their lead to as much as 25 points at 40-15 with 3:31 remaining in the opening half. The Rangers would enter the halftime break down 44-21.
Nick Brown would be Parkside's leading scorer at the half with 11 of Parkside's 21 first half points.
The Rangers offense would produce a bit more in the second half, but it was too little too late. Parkside would go from shooting 34.6% from the floor to a much improved 47.6% in the second half. Parkside would also heat up from deep in the second half of action, hitting six of their 10 attempts from beyond the arc. Despite the much-improved offense, the Rangers would have no defensive answers for the Huskies, as they would outscore the Rangers again in the second half 36-33. Michigan Tech would earn the 80-54 victory.
