Rangers Big Second Half Leads Parkside Past Benedictine

KENOSHA, Wis. - The Parkside men's basketball program returned to De Simone Arena on Wednesday evening. The Rangers hosted Benedictine in non-conference action. The Rangers overcame first half woes and used an explosive second half en route to a 90-70 victory.

  • Jack Rose was stellar in the Rangers victory. The junior posted 32 points, a new career high, while shooting 9-11 from the floor and 7-9 from three point territory.
  •  Josiah Palmer added 18 points in the win. He did so while shooting 7-16 from the floor. 
  • As a team the Rangers put up 38 three pointers, converting 16. 
How it Happened
The Rangers would jump on the board first on a Jack Rose three pointer, setting the tone for the night. Parkside would build a lead just minutes into the opening half of play going up six points with 16:06 remaining in the first half. Benedictine would then find their offensive footing, clawing back to create back and forth basketball. The Eagles and Rangers would see 10 lead changes in the first half of action. The Eagles would take the lead on a pair of free throws at the 5:14 mark. This would kick-start a 13-6 run for Benedictine to take a 42-36 lead heading into the halftime break. 

At the half the Rangers would be shooting just 44% from the field, compared to the Eagles 55.6%. Rose would lead the Rangers at the half offensively with 14 points. No other Rangers had recorded double figures in the scoring column. 

Benedictine would come out in the second half defending their lead, stretching it to seven points at 47-40 with 16:30 remaining. The Rangers would then begin chipping away at the Eagles lead, finally taking the reins on a Rose jumper with 8:42 left. Parkside would then outscore the Eagles 32-11 to close out the game. The Rangers would knock down four three pointers in the final five minutes of action and go on to take the 90-70 victory.
