Rangers Back in Win Column After Victory over CUC

KENOSHA, Wis. - The Parkside men's basketball team returned to the De Simone Arena hardwood on Tuesday night. The Rangers played host to the Concordia-Chicago Cougars in a non conference battle. The Rangers would pick up the much needed victory over CUC, 93-67.

  • The Rangers offense was firing on all cylinders, shooting 46.6% from the field and 40% from three point territory. Parkside also knocked down a season high 14 three pointers on the evening. 
  • Parkside had five different Rangers reach double figures in the scoring column.
  • Rokas Castillo led the charge for the Rangers, putting up a new career high in points with 18. 
  • Cameron Mallory got it done on both ends of the floor, posting his first double double in a Parkside uniform. The senior did so with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

How it Happened
The Rangers would jump out in front, riding an 11-0 run to open the game. Parkside's offense would be fueled by the deep ball in the opening half of play, as they would knock down eight of their 14 three pointers in the first 20 minutes of action. The Rangers distance themselves 27-12 on an Ethan Ivan three pointer at the 8:47 mark. The cougars would then start to generate more offense, outscoring the Rangers 22-18 to close out the half. The Cougars would make it interesting heading into the halftime break trailing just 11 to the Rangers 45-34.

Jack Rose would be the key for the Rangers in the opening half of play, nailing three pointers in the first half of play and tallying a team high 12. Teammate Cameron Mallory aided the Rangers with eight points while also pulling down seven first half boards.

Coming out the halftime break the Rangers would mount a 15-6 run to create more cushion for themselves. Parkside would build their lead to as much as 33 in the second half. Rokas Castillo would give the Rangers 12 second half points, while logging just under nine minutes of playing time. He would go 3-4 from the field while knocking down two three pointers in the second half. The Rangers would cruise to a 93-67 victory over the Cougars.
