Rangers Set For Home Opener This Weekend

KENOSHA, Wis. -- The Parkside men's basketball team is set for two upcoming games, including their home opener. The Rangers will open the weekend on Saturday in De Simone Arena for their home opener. The Rangers will square off against the Maryville Saints in the Haribo Classic. Tip is scheduled for 3 p.m. CST. Parkside will then play one more game before Thanksgiving break as they will host Concordia Chicago on Tuesday night. Tip off against the Cougars is set for 7:30 p.m. CST.

  • The Rangers are coming off a 1-1 weekend. The Rangers caputured an overtime victory over Minnesota Crookston, 66-64. Rokas Castillo's last second three pointer would be the decider in the thrilling overtime victory for the Rangers. 
  • The Rangers will play in their home opener on Saturday in the annual Haribo Classic. The Haribo Classic will feature four Division II teams from the midwest region in Hillsdale, Winona State, Maryville, and Parkside. Hillsdale and Winona State will square off first at 1 p.m. prior to the Parkside and Maryville game.
  • Nick Brown enters the weekend as the Rangers leading scorer, averaging 15 points per game, a current career high. The graduate student is coming off a career game against Minnesota Crookston where he would put up a career high 26 points on the Golden Eagles.

Scouting Maryville
The Saints enter the Haribo Classic with a 0-4 record, dropping games to GLIAC foes Michigan Tech and Northern Michigan as well as Central Missouri and Missouri Western State. Last season the Saints went just under .500 with a 12-14 overall record and going 8-12 in GLVC play. 

Maryville is lead by Keyyaun Batchman who is averaging a team leading 16 ppg. He's doing so while shooting over 50% from the field at 52.6%. Batchman however did not play in the Saints most recent contest. Teammate Dewayne Bass is the Saints other go to guy, averaging 13.5 ppg along with 5 rpg. Defensively, Maryville looks to Bass as well, as he currently leads the team with 9 steals so far this season while his 5 rpg leads the team as well. 

Scouting Concordia Chicago
The Cougars currently sit at 1-1 overall. They currently are down in Texas, playing in the LeTourneau Classic. CUC is scheduled to play Friday night and Saturday afternoon. Last season the Cougars had a .500 season after going 13-13. 

CUC runs a high scoring offense, averaging over 90 points per game at 90.5. They are led by Jacob Collicott who is currently fourth in the nation in Division III in points per game at 29. He is also averaging a double double as he is currently averaging 10.5 rpg. He leads the Cougars in both categories so far this season. In the Cougars season opener the senior went a perfect 16-16 from the freethrow line.
