How it happened:
In the first set, the Rangers came out firing on all cylinders. The catalyst behind the first-set victory over No. 15 Grand Valley State was Sam Fisch, who delivered a standout performance. Fisch collected seven kills as Karlee Lois continued to set perfectly for her star-studded right-side hitter. The Rangers served well, registering three aces with no errors. Sierra Kilbourn also provided a spark, securing three first-set kills en route to a nine kill night. The Rangers went on a four-point run to take the set 25-21.
After a 25-14 loss in the second set, the Rangers managed to put up a fight in the third. Sam Fisch found her rhythm again, adding five more kills to her tally. The teams engaged in a back-and-forth battle, featuring eight ties and five lead changes. However, the Lakers' blocking became a critical factor in the match. After registering six blocks in the second set, they added five more in the third, each one fueling their momentum. Though the Rangers fought hard, once the Lakers reached their 18th point, they didn't look back, taking the third set 25-22.
In the fourth set, the Lakers showed why they are ranked 15th in the nation, dominating with a 25-10 win. Parkside hit in the negatives in both the second and fourth sets, while the Lakers hit .444 as a team in the final set. With their third consecutive loss, the Rangers dropped to 7-8 overall and 3-4 in GLIAC play.
