Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Parkside Falls Short, Drops Clash with GVSU

Allendale, MI - After a win that snapped a three-game losing skid, Parkside fell back into the loss column against Grand Valley State. Despite battling and cutting the score to as little as a point, Parkside fell by 22-points. Grand Valley State ended the game on a 22-5 run in the final nine minutes and won 76-54.

Inside the box score:

  • Colin O'Rourke led Parkside, scoring 16 points, five rebounds, and two assists

  • Josiah Palmer and Nick Brown both notched 13-point performances

  • Outside of Palmer, O'Rourke, and Brown, Parkside only managed to score 12 points

How it happened:

From the jump, Grand Valley State took the lead and never let it go. Parkside slumped from the field right off the bat, beginning the game without a made field goal for the first six and half minutes of the game. Parkside's stellar defense kept them in the game. Parkside had a jolt of energy shot into them when Colin O'Rourke threw down a big dunk in transition.

Parkside went into the half trailing by 12-points. The team only knocked down two triple's on 15 tries and were 31% as a team from the floor.

In the second half, Parkside finally got their offense rolling. Palmer had 11 of his 13 points come in the second half as he drained three triples in the process. In fact, Parkside hit five three-pointers in the half alone. Jack Rose contributed with a trey of his own which brought Parkside within six.

Nick Brown caught fire down the stretch. Brown scored seven straight Parkside points and brought the team within a possession with nine-minutes left. However, Grand Valley State had an answer every single time. The team saw three players score in double figures and they received 46 points off the bench. Parkside battled, but Grand Valley State ran away with the game in the final minutes.
