Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

An Offensive Explosion Leads Parkside Past Wayne State

Kenosha, Wis - The Parkside Rangers put together their best offensive performances of the season, downing Wayne State 89-81. Parkside had five players score in double figures and they earned their fifth conference win of the season.

Inside the box score:

  • For the first time this season, Parkside had two players score at least 20 points: Josiah Palmer had a game best 23 points and Colin O'Rourke had an even 20

  • Palmer posted his first double-double of his career, dishing out an excellent 11 assists. Palmer added to his big night with five rebounds, a steal, and a block

  • Nick Brown recorded a season-high 16 points, with three three-pointers

  • Jack Rose posted a 14-point performance with two made threes

How it happened:

The scoring began early and often for Parkside as they jumped out to an early ten point lead, 17-7. Palmer had a quick seven points and O'Rourke had five, just minutes in. Right off the bat, it had the feeling of a big Palmer night.

The narrative throughout for Parkside was the offensive excellence of Brown, Palmer, and O'Rourke. The three proved to be lethal all night long. However, the theme for Wayne State was the fact that they never went away and remained persistent throughout. They kept within striking distance and even grabbed the lead with three-minutes to play in the half. O'Rourke capped off an impressive first half with a late basket to give Parkside a one-point advantage heading into the halftime break, 39-38.

Parkside and Wayne State continued to battle and played in a game that consisted of 11 lead changes and nine ties. Six minutes into the final half, Wayne State jumped out to their largest lead, 51-45. Parkside wasted no time answering the phone, going on a brilliant 14-0 run. Jack Rose, Ethan Ivan, Colin O'Rourke all made three-pointers that were assisted by Palmer.

Parkside never gave the lead back up again. Despite the fact that the game was back-and-forth, Parkside led for 30-minutes of the game. However, Wayne State tied the game up with 3:30 after numerous clutch shots. Nick Brown stepped up to the plate and came through with a go-ahead bucket, plus the foul.

Jack Rose hit crucial free throws down the stretch, and Palmer padded Parkside's lead with a long two-point make. Ethan Ivan came through with a big-time rejection to seal the deal.
