Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

O’Rourke and Palmer Lead Parkside Past Davenport

Grand Rapids, MI - The Parkside Rangers snapped a three-game losing streak with a dominant win over Davenport. Colin O'Rourke and Josiah Palmer both had big games, combining for 34 points and five triples. Parkside led for the entire game and earned their ninth win overall, and evened their GLIAC record at 4-4.

Inside the box score:

  • O'Rourke scored 19 points, collected five rebounds, three steals, and two blocks

  • Palmer dropped 15 points, knocking down three triples, grabbing three rebounds, and dished four assists

  • Parkside had 10 players score in the 24-point win

How it happened:

The theme of Parkside's win was their success from beyond the arc. The game began with makes from deep from Nick Brown and Ethan Ivan. Once Parkside gained the lead, they didn't give it up for the rest of the way.

O'Rourke began to establish his dominance early and often. Within the first seven minutes of the game, not only did Parkside have a ten-point advantage, but O'Rourke seven of the team's 16 points. Three pointers from Palmer and Sam Devault propelled Parkside to a 22-6 lead eight-minutes into the contest.

In the last nine minutes of the first half, Parkside scored 19 points and led by 20 at the halftime break. O'Rourke and Palmer combined for 24 points at the break, plus Ivan, Brown, and DeVault had at least five points each. Parkside took a 45-25 lead into the break.

Nothing changed for Parkside as the game progressed in the second half. O'Rourke sparked Parkside's bench with an emphatic two-handed slam dunk to begin the half. O'Rourke had his presence felt from the opening tip-off and had one of his best games yet.

Parkside held on and captured the win on the road against Davenport. The team shot 51% from the field and 43% from deep. They forced Davenport into 16 turnovers and accumulated 23 points off them. This was the fourth time that Parkside has scored at least 80-points in a single game. With the win, Parkside improves to 9-9 overall and 4-4 in GLIAC play.
