Rangers Tame Dragons In Final Game of Hampton Invitational

KENOSHA, Wis. — The Parkside volleyball team closed out the Hampton Invitational on Saturday evening, taking on the Minnesota State - Moorhead Dragons. The Rangers were able to tame the Dragons in four sets to finish the weekend 3-1.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE 
  • Mariena Coon had a collegiate-high 14 kills while swinging .500. 
  • Karlee Lois recorded another double-double, finishing with 38 assists and a team-high 16 digs. 
  • Elizabeth Truckenbrod had a packed stat line, with nine kills, four aces, and 14 digs.  
HOW IT HAPPENED
Sam Fisch was on fire in set one, driving home seven kills. Parkside only trailed once in the set, that coming when MSU scored the match's opening point. Parkside used multiple small runs to take the opening set 25-21. 
 
The Rangers never trailed in set two, building their lead out to 11 at one point. Parkside hit .385 as a team during the set and were led by Truckenbrod with four kills on six attempts to go along with two aces. 
 
Set three was the tightest of the night, featuring four ties and three lead changes. Coon led the offense for Parkside in the set, picking up six of her game-high 14 in the third. A 6-0 run for the Dragons after the set was tied at nine was too much for the Rangers to overcome as they dropped the set 25-21. 
 
Parkside recovered in set four, hitting .318 as a team, with six different players picking up kills. Lindsay Krznarich led the offense with five kills in the set. The Rangers jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the set with Lois serving. The Rangers never looked back, closing out the set 25-18. 
 
Parkside will now prepare for the opening weekend of conference play. The Rangers will open GLIAC play on Friday, September 15th at 5:00 pm (ET) at Saginaw Valley State University.
