UNIVERSITY CITY, MI - Parkside began conference play with an emphatic win on the road. The Rangers went into Michigan and swept their way through the Saginaw Valley State Cardinals in dominant fashion.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
Set one started and finished with the Rangers in full control. It wasn't an easy atmosphere to play in, but that didn't stop them from playing ahead the entire set. Karlee Lois was in full control of the offense, dealing out six assists. Elizabeth Truckenbrod got the start for the second straight game, and dug out six attacks in the opening set. Sam Fisch ended any Cardinals hopes of a comeback by rejecting an attack to complete the set, 25-18.
The Cardinals jumped out to an early lead in the second set leading by as much as eight. However, in the blink of an eye, the Rangers came roaring back. It was Elle Truckenbrod who took charge. During a seven-point run, she cashed in four kills utterly taking over. She would finish the set with six total kills. Parkside took the late lead thanks to a couple attack errors and there was no looking back. The Rangers erased an eight-point deficit and won the set 25-20.
In the third and final set it was a close fight, but momentum proved to be the difference for the Rangers. Parkside held a lead throughout and never let it go. Ava Irvin got the ball rolling picking up a couple significant kills. The Rangers were helped out by the fact that the Cardinals hit (.082) as a team with seven service errors. On the other hand, Parkside hit (.138) with only one service error. It was capped off by a Truckenbrod termination, and the Rangers won the set 25-21.
With the win, Parkside advances to (6-3, 1-0 GLAIC) on the young season, while Saginaw Valley State drops to (2-7, 0-1 GLIAC).
