Preview: Parkside Embarks on Quest to Defend GLIAC Title in Upcoming Weekend Battles

Kenosha, Wis - With two consecutive wins under their belt, the Parkside Rangers are set to commence GLIAC play at home this weekend. Parkside will open up on Thursday night against Lake Superior State University at 7:30pm and then on Saturday against No. 14 Ferris State University at 3:00pm.

Scouting Parkside
Last weekend, Parkside hosted Alumni Day at De Simone Arena and put on a scoring clinic against Benedictine University. Parkside posted their highest scoring total of the season, notching 86 points in the 31-point victory. Parkside had 10 players enter the scoring column, and five players reached double figures for the first time this season. Both Josiah Palmer and Sam DeVault recorded 14-point performances. 

Parkside is currently 4-3 overall as they enter GLIAC play. Palmer leads the team in scoring with 14.9 points per game, shooting 46% from the field. Colin O'Rourke is right behind him, averaging 12 points per game, along with 5 rebounds a game. As a team, Parkside is averaging 69.7 points per game. 

Scouting Lake State
Through five games this season, Lake Superior State is off to their best start since the 2021- 22 season. They began the season with four straight wins before finally being defeated by Eastern Michigan University from the Division-I level. As the programs entered conference play, they were led by the Ypsilanti trio. Devin Womack, Tyson Edmondson, and Kingsley Perskins are all averaging double figures this season and have all played together since their high school days. Edmondson has been the catalyst overall, the junior has made 12 three-pointers in just three games. Another name to keep an eye on is Xander Okerland. In his fifth year as a starter at Lake State, the 6-5 guard is averaging over 12 points per game with over six rebounds a contest.

Scouting No.14 Ferris State
Following a second place finish behind Parkside last season, the Bulldogs have revenge on their minds. The team is ranked 14th in the nation entering conference play. Ferris State is 6-1 through seven games and will open conference play against PNW and then Parkside. They have been lethal on the offensive end, averaging just under 90 points per game, shooting 52.2% from the field. DeSean Munson averages 13.3 points per game on 70% shooting. Munson also leads the team in boards per game with 5.8. In addition, Ferris has four other scorers averaging double figures. Ferris had their most impressive performance against Cleary when they won by a score of 109-49.
