Rangers Have Three Champions, Six Finalists at 2023 Jim Koch Open

KENOSHA, Wis. – The Parkside wrestling team hosted the annual Jim Koch Open on Saturday, welcoming several high-level wrestlers from a number of schools. Shane Corrigan, Matthew Chi, and Lloyd Reynolds won individual championships for Parkside on Saturday, with 15 Rangers placed. 
 
Shane Corrigan continued his dominance Saturday, going 3-0 with wins by decision, tech fall, and major decision. He won the semifinals by an 8-6 decision over Brandon Paez of Northern Iowa. He then claimed the title by beating Garret Rinken of Northern Iowa by a 15-4 major decision. 
 
Matthew Chi won the title at 133 lbs going 4-0. He won by decision four times, including a 9-3 decision over Jp Homfield of Maryville to claim the title. Elon Rodriguez also placed in the 133lb class, finishing third. Rodriguez went 4-1, with his only loss coming to Brian Beers of Illinois. 
 
Troy Dolphin wrestled unattached and placed fifth in the 141lb class. Jalen Spuhler placed fourth at 149 lbs. He went 4-1. 
 
Jordan Craft wrestled unattached and went 3-2 finishing fourth. Jalen Spuhler placed third at 149 lbs, going 4-1. He picked up a win by fall and tech fall. His lone loss came in the semifinals to Cael Rahnavardi of Northern Iowa.
 
Ben Durocher placed second going 2-1, with his lone loss coming to RJ Weston of Northern Iowa in the championship. 
 
Brady Schuh placed fifth going 2-2. Brody Hemauer earned a third-place finish, going 3-1 on the day. His lone loss came to Devin Wesley of Minnesota by sudden victory. 
 
Reece Worachek finished second on Saturday, going 2-1. He quickly defeated his first two opponents before falling to  CJ Walrath of Northern Iowa in the championship. 
 
Chase Stegall wrestled unattached and placed third. He won his first two matches before falling to Kalob Runyon of Northern Iowa in the semifinals. He then recovered to win his third place match to finish 3-1 on the day.
 
Lloyd Reynolds and Jason Guadarrama faced each other in the heavyweight championship, and it would be Reynolds taking home the crown.
