Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Parkside Falls to Lewis in Final Seconds

Romeoville, IL - Following a big win on Monday, Parkside hit the road to take on Lewis University on Tuesday afternoon. Despite a standout performance from Colin O'Rourke, Lewis pulled away in the late stages and secured a 74-72 victory over Parkside.

Inside the box score:

  • Colin O'Rourke led Parkside with 21 points, he was stellar from three-point range knocking down four of five tries

  • Sam DeVault posted his best performance of the season with 17 points

  • Parkside shot 52% from three as a team

How to happened:
Just a day ago, Parkside had their best shooting performance in the past decade, drilling 20 three pointers. The game began very similarly as Colin O'Rourke and Rokas Castillo nailed both of their first shots from beyond the arc. Big first half shots from both Jake Dunham and Sam DeVault kept Parkside in control for the remainder of the opening half.

Parkside entered the second half with a four-point lead, but Lewis quickly surged ahead. Javon Johnson gave Parkside the lead right back when he nailed a tough turnaround jump shot with 13 minutes left.

Just minutes later, Sam DeVault once again delivered. He knocked down his fourth triple of the night and it gave Parkside the lead once again.

Jumping ahead to the final minutes of the contest, Lewis had the edge over Parkside with under two minutes to play. The name to highlight in this battle was Colin O'Rourke, and he once again delivered. He nailed a go-ahead three-pointer to put Parkside ahead with 1:16 to play.

Parkside shot a brilliant 62% from downtown in the second half, but this impressive performance wasn't enough to secure the win. Lewis pulled away with a last-second game winning shot from Jamere Hill.

Up next:
Parkside will take the next 13 days off before returning to action once again. On New Year's Eve they will take on Winona State University on the road for their final non-conference bout of the season. For coverage of the event, visit ParksideRangers.com/coverage.
