Rangers Fall In Five To Lake Superior State

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. -- The Parkside volleyball team hit the road once again on Friday afternoon, taking on the Lake Superior State Lakers. Parkside held a 2-1 advantage after three sets, but the Lakers were able to takes sets four and five to down the Rangers 3-2.

  • Sam Fisch led the offense with 16 kills.
  • Karlee Lois recorded her 20th double-double of the season, including 36 assists and 14 digs.
  • Natalie Harris led the defense with 29 digs. She also had two service aces.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
Parkside struggled in set one, registering just six kills. The Lakers' broke open a 6-6 score with a 10-3 run that the Rangers would not recover from. Lake State took the opening set 25-16.
 
The Rangers turned things around in set two, winning it 25-16. Ava Irvin had six kills in the set, while Fisch had five. With the score tied 3-3, Sierra Marshall served four straight times as Parkside opened a lead. The Rangers would never look back, closing out the set on a kill by Irvin.
 
Parkside took care of business once again in set three. Fisch led the offense with four kills. The set was back and forth throughout, featuring eight ties and three lead changes, however Parkside was able to score the final two points of the set to win it 25-23.
 
Lake State answered back in set four, as Parkside hit .000 in the set. There were ten ties in the set, but the Lakers were able to break open a tie at 23 with two straight points to force a decisive set five. Parkside grabbed a 10-5 lead in set five, but Lake State was able to go on a 10-2 closing run to take set five 15-12 and the match 3-2.
