Reigel Reaches 300 Career Wins, Rangers Down Maryville 65-60

ST.LOUIS – A milestone was hit on Wednesday afternoon for the Parkside men's basketball team. The team defeated the Maryville Saints by a final score of 65-50. With the win head coach Luke Reigel reached 300 career wins as a head coach. He is the first coach in Parkside men's basketball history to do so.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Colin O'Rourke had a game high 23 points on 10-18 shooting. He scored 19 points in the first half.
  • Josiah Palmer had 15 points to go along with five assists and five steals.
  • Parkside went 10-14 from the free throw line.
HOW IT HAPPENED
O'Rourke was key for the Rangers in the first half. The redshirt junior was 8-14 in the half, scoring 19 of the Rangers' 25 points.

Parkside grabbed the lead in a back-and-forth first few minutes on a pull up jumper by Jake Dunham. After the Saints had tied it up, it was seven straight points from O'Rourke, including a three from the top of the key, building a 19-12 lead for the Rangers. O'Rourke went on to score the final 12 points of the half for the Rangers, giving Parkside a 25-19 lead at the break.

The Parkside defense was stifling in the first half, limiting the Saints to just 7-20 shooting.

The Rangers quickly built their lead out to nine to open the half on a Palmer three. The Parkside offense was more fluid in the second half, with the team building their lead out to 38-28 on a Rokas Castillo layup with 13:41 to go.

Maryville cut the Parkside advantage back to four at one point, but Parkside was able to answer, expanding the lead back to ten on a dunk from Nick Brown.

The Saints continued to fight back, getting back within two with 3:38 to go, but a three from Palmer and strong free throw shooting down the stretch secured the 65-60 win for the Rangers.
