Preview: Rangers Return To De Simone For HARIBO Invitational

KENOSHA, Wis. – The Parkside men's basketball returns to Kenosha to open the home portion of the 2023-24 schedule, beginning with the HARIBO Invitational on Friday and Saturday. The Rangers will take on No. 12 ranked Minnesota Duluth on Friday night before taking on Minnesota Crookston on Saturday afternoon. 
 
Scouting the Rangers
The Rangers enter the HARIBO Invitational 2-0 after defeating No. 5 ranked Indianapolis and Illinois-Springfield at the conference crossover, hosted in Owensboro, Kentucky. Parkside was led by redshirt junior Josiah Palmer, who won GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week for his performance over the opening weekend. Palmer scored 26 points on 8-11 shooting in the opener and averaged 7.5 assists per game over the first two games. Transfers Sam DeVault and Jack Rose were impressive in their opening weekend with the Rangers, with the pair each pouring in 19 points in the win over UIS.

Scouting No. 12 Minnesota Duluth
The Bulldogs opened their regular season schedule last weekend at the GAC/NSIC Crossover Classic, going 1-1 over their two games. The weekend started off with a narrow 77-71 win over the Oklahoma Baptist University Bison, where graduate student guard Drew Blair dropped 33 points to break the UMD all-time scoring record. The weekend concluded with a hard fought 58-62 loss to the East Central University Tigers. The Bulldogs went 26-10 last season, making a run to the Elite Eight in the NCAA Tournament.
 
Scouting Minnesota Crookston
The Golden Eagles opened up the 2023-24 season in the Sooner State. Crookston knocked off East Central on Friday afternoon, stretching their lead to as big as 30 before holding off a late rally. Crookston flipped the script on Saturday, closing the night on a 14-4 run over the last four minutes to knock off Oklahoma Baptist. Most recently the Golden Eagles lost to Concordia St. Paul on Wednesday night 86-76. Blaize Sagna leads the team with a 21.3 points per game average. He scored a game high 34 on Wednesday night in the loss. Crookston went 2-26 overall last season and did not win on the road.
