KENOSHA, Wis. -- The Parkside women's basketball team pulled off an upset on Sunday afternoon, defeating No. 8 ranked and 2022-23 national runner-up Minnesota Duluth by a 77-49 final score.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Rangers and Bulldogs went back and forth early on Sunday inside De Simone Arena. Parkside was able to grab the lead for good late in the first with a 7-0 run with baskets by four different players. The Rangers led 21-16 after the first. Gabriela Loiz led the Rangers with seven points in the quarter.
Six different Rangers scored in the second quarter. Parkside shot over 57 percent from the floor in the quarter and were able to expand their lead to 11 before the half when Sheridan Flauger knocked down a three before the buzzer.
The Bulldogs cut the Parkside lead to nine early in the third, but an 8-0 Ranger run powered by threes from Arni and Jaelyn Derlein expanded the Parkside lead out to 53-36 with 4:04 to go in the quarter. Parkside held Duluth to just 4-14 shooting in the third and led 57-40 after three.
Parkside kept their foot on the gas, building their lead out to as many as 29 in the fourth. The Rangers defense was stifling, allowing just nine Bulldog points in the fourth. Offensively Parkside was 8-15 in the quarter and cruised to the 77-49 victory.
