Owensboro, KY - Following a victory over #5 Indianapolis, the Parkside Rangers continued their play in the Conference Crossover on Saturday. For the first time since 2021, Parkside shared the court with the University of Illinois Springfield. Parkside's two transfers led the way in the 75-66 victory.
"Very nice start to the season for us. Going on the road and beating two quality teams is a big confidence boost for a relatively young team," remarked Head Coach Luke Reigel. "We also had quite a few different guys contributing this weekend and that is going to really help throughout the year. Overall, we will take the two Ws and look forward to being at home this Friday. Cannot wait to see our fans this weekend."
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
The first half of basketball was a back-and-forth battle. The hectic half consisted of seven tied scores and 12 different lead changes. In all, the playing field felt very level as the half progressed. Parkside's graduate transfer, Sam DeVault, had everything going his way. DeVault led Parkside with 14 points, shooting 80% from the field in the opening half.
In the second half, Jack Rose and Parkside started to put their foot on the gas. Rose found his stroke, knocking down seven of ten shots in the winning effort.
As a team, Parkside was lights out, shooting 62% from the field in the second half. Parkside had three players in double figures, as Nick Brown shot six of eight from the field with 13 points. Brown cleaned up the glass all afternoon leading the game in rebounds.
This is the first 2-0 beginning to the season for Parkside since their start in 2021. Parkside will next host the HARIBO Invitational in De Simone Arena next weekend. They will host Minnesota Duluth on Friday and Minnesota Crookston on Saturday in their home opening weekend. For coverage, visit ParksideRangers.com.
