Rangers Second Half Goal Leads to Draw Against Panthers

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Rangers, coming off a draw against No. 20 Grand Valley State, remained on the road for a Sunday afternoon matchup against the Davenport Panthers. Despite conceding a first half goal, the Rangers fought back in the second half and scored the equalizer to earn the draw against the Panthers.

Inside the Box Score
  • Leah Forde's second half goal counts as her first as a Ranger and the games equalizer.
  • Outside of the Panther's goal, Guyer had a quiet day in goal, notching three saves.
  • The Rangers were out shot by the Panthers 16-12 but put more shots on frame with seven.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Panthers struck first in the 15th minute of play. Gabby Scholten beat Izzy Guyer and put the Panthers on top 1-0. The scoreline would remain the same heading into the half.

The Rangers searched for the equalizer until it came in the 70th minute. Emily Mikkelson sent a ball across the face of the goal where Leah Forde stood at the far post to pass it into the back of the net to level to score. The goal is Forde's first of the sophomore's career.

The Rangers will round out regular season play next week on Friday when they travel down to Hammond, Ind. to take on the Purdue Northwest Pride. Kickoff for the match is set for 1 p.m. CDT. Coverage for the match can be found at parksiderangers.com/coverage
