KENOSHA, WI - The Parkside Rangers will play in three games this weekend at the Hammond Sportsplex in Hammond Indiana. Parkside will compete against Quincy University and Ashland University on Friday. Their match on Saturday will be decided based on their results from the initial matches.
The Midwest Region Volleyball Crossover Tournament is made up of three Division-II conferences. Nearly 650 athletes will compete over the two day stretch from the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC), Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC), and the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC).
The Parkside Rangers enter the weekend at (10-7) overall, and (5-4) in conference games. The Rangers are tied for third place in the GLIAC right now.

SCOUTING QUINCY
The Quincy Hawks come from the GLVC. The team is off to a brilliant start to their season as they have been only defeated just once. They are currently tied for first place with Missouri-St. Louis as the two teams both stand at (5-0) in conference play. Quincy is (16-1) overall, their only loss came to Texas A&M University Kingsville back on (9/2/23) in five sets.
The Hawks ride heavily on their lethal offensive attack. The team is top-two in points (17.94 per set), assists (12.94 per set), and kills (14.17 per set). Quincy ranks ninth nationally in kills per set and 13th in assists per set. They are third in the conference in hitting percentage as well (.262). Junior Emma Wijnbergen leads the attack, carrying a ridiculous 271 kills into the weekend. The team has at least four hitters in the triple-digit kill category (Alice Pavan: 189, Susanna Beretti: 147, Luna Van Baars: 139).
Their defense had been top-tier as well. The Hawks have held opponents to a (.162) hitting percentage, and rank fourth in the conference in blocks (2.05 per set). Beretti leads the team with 211 digs and Pavan leads the conference in total blocks (70).
Mark Jones leads the Hawks and is at the helm for his fifth consecutive season. Jones' squad rides a 13-game win streak into Indiana.
SCOUTING ASHLAND
Back in the Ashland University Tournament this season, Ashland already shared the battlefield with Parkside earlier in September. Ashland got the best of Parkside, downing them in just three sets. Makenna Belcher and Bailey Ruth both had their way from the outside, each ended with double digit kills and swung at least (.300).
Currently, Ashland is (15-4) overall and (9-1) in G-MAC contests. They are in first place in the South division, three games ahead of Ohio Dominican in second. Belcher leads the flock with 260 terminations this season and she is third in the conference in kills per set (3.51).
Defensively, the Eagles have swarmed the net all season long. That is thanks to the effort of Bailey Ruth. The junior ranks 14th nationally, and second in the conference with 75 total blocks. Senior Katie Thompson leads the conference with 348 digs. That is good enough to be ranked 10th nationally.
Katie Kuhn is the head coach of the Eagles and she is in her first season with the program. Currently, the team is riding a seven-game winning streak.
