Grand Valley State 2, Parkside 0 (25-18, 25-17, 25-20)
The Parkside volleyball traveled to Allendale, Mich. to face-off against the Grand Valley State University Lakers Friday night. The two teams came into the match with overall records at 7-8 (2-5 GLIAC) Parkside and 10-5 (4-3 GLIAC) Grand Valley State.
MATCH RECAP
In the first set, the Lakers came out aggressively as they went up early 6-1. Parkside then made a run as the game got knotted at 6. Both teams went back and forth until the Lakers made it 16-12. The Rangers took a timeout to slow the Lakers down, but it wasn't enough as the Lakers took set one. In set two, it was deja vu like set one as the Lakers went up 9-1 early in the set before the Rangers took a timeout. Parkside was able to respond out of the timeout tying the set at 11. The Lakers had a response to the Ranger run as they went on to take set two. Set three was a back and forth point swap before Grand Valley State went up 15-9. Parkside used their first timeout as the Rangers took three fast points out of the timeout. The Rangers took their final timeout of set, but it wasn't enough as the Lakers would go on and take the match.
NOTEWORTHY STATS
Ava Irvin led Parkside in kills with 9. Behind Irvin was Reese Rossnagel with 8 kills. Alysha Brick led Parkside in assists with 11 followed by Lily Ray's 8. Defensively, Maddy Dokken tallied 11 digs.
