Parkside 1, Grand Valley State 3 (19-25, 23-25, 25-23, 18-25)
In the second match of a five-match homestand, Parkside Volleyball team fell to the Grand Valley State Lakers in four sets on Saturday in De Simone Arena.Â
GAME RECAP
The Rangers battled against the Lakers, who are currently in a tie for third in GLIAC conference standings. The first set was back-and-forth until the Lakers broke off of a 9-9 tie to go on a 5-0 run and continue to maintain that lead for the remainder of the set. The Lakers took set one 25-19.Â
In set two, the Rangers held leads of four points on numerous occasions, including a 17-13 lead late in the set. The Lakers continued to battle back to tie the game at 19-19, before ultimately taking the set 25-23.Â
In the third set, the Rangers trailed for the majority of the set, including 14-7. After a timeout from head coach
Leigh Barea down 20-17, the Rangers scored four-straight for a 21-20 lead. A block from senior
Reese Rossnagel put the Rangers ahead 24-22 before a service error ended the set.Â
The fourth set was close early before the Lakers took control. The Lakers took the lead and never relinquished it, winning the final set by a score of 25-18.

"We are proud of the effort from the team today. It was a high level match on both sides. It was good to see our offense balanced again and aggressive throughout the entire match. We are excited to have the opportunity to turn around and play this Tuesday at home.

Senior
Reese Rossnagel once again led the Rangers in kills with 12, freshman
Ava Irvin closely followed with 11 kills of her own on the day. Junior
Karlee Lois brought her assist total to 292 on the season with another 61 assists on Saturday. Rossnagel also led the team in aces with two. Freshman
Mariena Coon recorded a caree-high five blocks for the Rangers.

The Rangers will look ahead to their next game at De Simone Arena against Purdue Northwest at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 20.
