The Parkside softball team earned a split in the regular season finale at Davenport, which was a makeup game from earlier in the season. The Rangers got a go-ahead 3-run home run in the seventh inning of game one from senior
Kiley Akey, who just earned the Character Award at the 2022 Ranger Awards Sunday night.

Parkside will head into the GLIAC Tournament as the No. 8 seed and will face No. 21 ranked and top-seeded Grand Valley State on May 6, 2022. Game time is TBA, but will be on ParksideRangers.com this week.

GAME 1 RECAP
Game one saw plenty of offense early, with Parkside starting out with back-to-back 3-run innings while Davenport scored six runs in the first three innings. In the top of the first, freshman
Rylee Baetz drove in the first run of the game on an RBI double to right center and later in the inning freshman
Tia Livernash came through with a 2-run single to put Parkside up 3-0. After the Panthers responded to make it 3-2, the Rangers got a 2-run home run by junior
Dani Evans and an RBI triple from junior
Jadynn Powell in the second to go back up 6-2.

Davenport scored six unanswered runs in the third, fourth and sixth innings, setting up the Rangers for the big comeback. In the seventh, it started with a strikeout, but redshirt-senior
Alyssa Laxson hit a 1-out single to get things going. Powell singled to put the go-ahead run at the plate and Livernash came through again with an RBI double to left center to make it 8-7. The next batter, Akey, crushed the 3-run home run to center field that proved to be the game winner.

The Rangers had six extra base hits in game one, with Livernash going 3-for-4 with a double and three RBI, Evans went 2-for-3 with a home run and two runs and Powell went 2-for-4 with a triple. Junior
Taylor Delgado went 2-for-5 with a double and Akey had the big 3-run home run while also earning the win, pitching the final 4.2 innings.

GAME 2 RECAP
While Parkside outhit the Panthers 10-5 in game two, the Rangers couldn't get the clutch hits they needed. Parkside tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the fourth inning on a junior
Alex Wooten RBI double that scored Akey. The Panthers plated two in the fourth and two in the fifth to go up 5-1 and the Rangers' last run came in the top of the sixth inning on an RBI single by
Cassie Rutledge.

Baetz went 3-for-4, Evans went 2-for-4 and Wooten went 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI. Akey added a double and a run. Freshman
Olivia Masnica pitched the complete game for Parkside, allowing five runs on five hits and five walks.
