KENOSHA, Wis. – Alyssa Nelson of Parkside women's basketball has been named to the Division II Conference Commissioner's Association All-Midwest Region First Team, the D2CCA announced Friday. Nelson had previously been named First Team All-GLIAC, along with being named the GLIAC Player of the Year.

Nelson had one of the best seasons in Parkside history. The New Berlin, Wis. native set the single season scoring record with 586 points in 29 games. She ended the 2021-22 campaign with 20.2 points per game, along with 5.6 rebounds and 2.4 assists. She averaged an impressive .514 from the field, .415 from behind the three-point line, and .908 at the free throw line. She is one of only two players in all of the NCAA to average more than .50/.40/.90, as she is joined by Jack Davidson of Wabash (NCAA Men's Division III). Nelson has previously been named GLIAC Preseason Player of the Year, along with three GLIAC North Player of the Week recognitions. Nelson led the GLIAC in points per game, free throws made, and three-point field goal percentage.

"We are so thrilled to hear that Alyssa has been named to the All-Midwest First Team!" said women's basketball head coach Jen Conely, "She is a special player that has worked incredibly hard to continue to elevate her game and help our team compete at a high level. We compete in one of the toughest regions in Division II- it is quite an honor to be recognized as one of the top players in the region."
