The Parkside volleyball team traveled to Hammond, Ind. to compete in the first of the Midwest Crossover tournament. The Rangers got off to a slow start in the first match, but rallied back to earn the win over McKendree. Parkside then faced Illinois Springfield, but the Prairie Stars had their way and defeated the Rangers in three sets.
MATCH RECAP
In the first match of the day, the Bearcats got out to an early 2-0 lead on the Rangers with a pair of victories to open the match. The Parkside offense came alive in Set 3, as the Rangers jumped out to an early 13-3 lead and came away with a 25-20 win. The Rangers defense played a big role in the fourth set, allowing Parkside to hold a lead as big as eight points in the middle of the set. The Rangers would go on to win the set by six. In the fifth and final set, the two teams battled back-and-forth the whole way. It was not until the Rangers trailed 15-14 that they were able to string together three straight points, fueled by a pair of kills from
Reese Rossnagel, to win the match three sets to two.

In the Rangers second appearance of the day, the Prairie Stars dominated in Set 1, using an early 12-3 run to pull ahead and win the set by 16 points. The Prairie Stars success continued into the second set, where they used a 10-2 run to pull away from the Rangers and win 25-16. The Prairie Stars closed out Set 3 with 25-19 win to sweep the Rangers.

NOTEWORTHY STATS
Rossnagel ended the match against McKendree with a career high, as well as a potential Parkside single game record, 31 kills. She added eight more kills to her total in the UIS loss.
Alysha Brickl earned 44 assists. Six Rangers combined for 13 aces, with
Elizabeth Truckenbrod leading the way with four. GLIAC total block leader,
Lindsay Krznarich tallied eight more blocks in the win.
