Ohio Dominican 3, Parkside 2 (17-25, 25-19, 23-25, 25-21, 15-13)
The Parkside volleyball team competed in the final day of the Midwest Crossover tournament. The Rangers faced the Ohio Dominican Panthers to close out their three-game series in the tournament. Parkside got out to an early advantage, but ultimately fell to the Panthers in five sets.
MATCH RECAP
The Rangers used a 6-0 run, fueled by an ace from
Cayla Gutche, to jump out to a 19-14 lead. The Rangers went on to win the first set by eight points. Set 2 went in favor of the Panthers, as they used a 7-0 run to jump out to a 22-14 lead before winning the set 25-19. Both teams battled hard in the third set, finding themselves tied at 23-23 late in the set. A kill from
Ava Irvin and a ball handling error for the Panthers put the Rangers up two sets to one. Set 4 was equally competitive, with both teams trading rallies until the set was tied 20-20. The Panthers then went on a 5-1 run to close out the set and force a fifth and final set. The Panthers surged in Set 5, going on a six-point rally and jumping out to a 13-7 lead. The Rangers clawed their way back with a pair of kills from
Reese Rossnagel, but the damage had been done, allowing the Panthers to come away with the win.

NOTEWORTHY STATS
Rossnagel came away with 23 kills, her second Parkside top 10 all-time performance of the weekend. Irvin finished the day right behind her with 19 kills.
Alysha Brickl earned a season-high 51 assists, while
Lindsay Krznarich earned four total blocks. Gutche had a great day, leading the Rangers with four services aces and 14 digs.
