Argueta competed for the Rangers from 2012-2016 in the 149/157 pound weight classes. While at Parkside, he was a team captain and majored in communications and sociology. He currently holds an MMA Professional Record of 5-0 with an additional two wins on his amateur ledger. Three wins came by way of submissions in the first round, all of which were on rear-naked chokes.

"Wrestling for the Rangers was an integral part of my journey to this exact moment of my life and everything after," Argueta said. "I learned a crucial life lesson from Coach Jim Koch, who sadly passed. As I was wrapping up my collegiate wrestling career on unfortunate terms he asked me "What's important now? Is it your grades? Wrestling? Your family? Your own happiness?" To me this meant whatever I was doing from that day forward and to give everything with 100% effort. The shortcomings that I had on the mats, now drive me to success in the octagon. It is because of my former teammates and coaches such as Nick Fishback, Joseph Her, Nick Becker, Craig Becker, Coach Koch, and many others that I have guided be to be a champion in life."

Argueta, who is nicknamed "The Determined", trains at Jackson Wink Academy in Albuquerque, New Mexico under the tutelage of UFC superstar Cub Swanson. He started training after graduation from Parkside in 2016.
