Volleyball Falls 3-1 to Davenport on Senior Night

Davenport 3, Parkside 1 | 25-20, 26-24, 25-17, 25-23 |
It was senior night at De Simone Gymnausium, and the Parkside volleyball team fell to Davenport in four sets. For senior night, the Rangers honored Maleia Ysteboe, Emma Habisch, and Kendall Holmes.

MATCH RECAP
In the first set, the Rangers came back from an early 4-point deficit, to within two points for a majority of the set. Then, down 19-20, a series of kills helped Parkside to a 6-0 run to grab the set 25-20.

The second set saw the Panthers jump out to a 10-4 lead to start. The Rangers took back the momentum with a 10-4 run of their own to bring the score to 14 all. Each team battled back and forth for the final points of the second set, and Davenport ended up with the final three points to take it 26-24.

Davenport started the third the same way they started the second, with a 10-4 lead. Once again, the Rangers bounced back and cut the Panther lead to just 10-9. Unfortunately for the hosts, that's where the similarities to the second set came to an end, as the Panthers finished the frame on a 15-8 run.

The fourth set was a back and forth affair with kills coming from each side. Tied at 8, Davenport broke away for three, but Parkside ripped off a 7-4 run to grab a 17-14 lead thanks in part to two kills from freshman Jessica Pappas. The hosts were the first to 20, but Davenport emerged victorious after scoring eight of the final 11 points in the contest.

STATWORTHY
Sophomore Reese Rossnagel led the Rangers with 14 kills, followed by junior Jazmine Neal with 12. Sophomore Alysha Brickl led the team in assists with 24, while sophomore Kaylee Kuecker led the team in digs with 24, followed by Habisch with 15.

As a team, Parkside hit .136 with 54 kills and 34 errors. The Panthers finished the match with a hitting percentage of .191, on 47 kills and 20 errors. The Rangers had 9.0 blocks while Davenport had 10.0. Both the Rangers and Panthers ended with 7 service aces.
