The Parkside volleyball team claimed the first set over the Wildcats on the road Saturday afternoon, but NMU was able to come back and win three straight and take the match. Sophomore
Hallie McGuire had a career-high 17 kills after going for a career-high nine last night. NMU improved to 5-1 this season while Parkside slides to 0-6.

HOW IT HAPPENED
In the first set, the Rangers and Wildcats were tied at 12-12, but Parkside used a short 3-0 run to pull in front and didn't trail again the rest of the way. NMU brought it to a 22-21 score later, but Parkside scored the final three points thanks to a service error and back-to-back attack errors on the NMU.

The second set went back-and-forth and the Rangers had a 17-13 lead, but NMU scored the final 12 points of the set to tie it at 1-1. The Rangers also had a lead in the third set, but NMU surged late to take the set. The Wildcats closed it out in the fourth set where they never trailed.

McGuire led all with her 17 kills. She hit .538 after finishing with just three errors. Sophomore
Reese Rossnagel had 10 kills while senior
Rachel Hedman had nine. Hedman and sophomore
Kaylee Kuecker each had 14 digs. Sophomore
Alysha Brickl had 39 assists while sophomore
Lexi Packard had 5.0 blocks.

Parkside finished hitting .206 with 45 kills and 17 errors while the Wildcats hit .237 with 51 kills and 18 errors. There were a lot of aces both ways, as the Wildcats finished with 12 and the Rangers had seven. Parkside finished with nine blocks while NMU had seven.

The Rangers will stay on the road and battle Wayne State next weekend on Friday at 6 p.m. and Saturday at 1 p.m
