Northern Michigan 3, Parkside 1 | 25-18, 22-25, 25-16, 25-17
The Parkside volleyball team was able to win a set against a tough Northern Michigan squad, but the Wildcats improved to 4-1 this season after winning in four sets. The two squads will battle again on Saturday at 1 p.m. as the Rangers look for their first victory of the 2021 spring season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
In the first set, the teams went back-and-forth for the first half of the set. With NMU leading 16-15, the Wildcats went on a 5-0 run to pull away in the end. In the second, Parkside found themselves trailing 16-10 early on, but rallied back to score nine straight points and take a 19-16 lead. The Rangers won the set after an Eagles' attack error, tying the match at 1-1. NMU was able to take the third and fourth sets from the Rangers however, pulling away in the end of both sets.
STATWORTHY
Sophomore
Reese Rossnagel led the way for the Rangers with 11 kills on 26 attacks while sophomore
Hallie McGuire had a career-high nine kills. Sophomore
Alysha Brickl led the way with 26 assists while
Kendall Holmes,
Rachel Hedman and Brickl all finished with 10+ digs. Sophomore
Kaylee Kuecker had five aces for the Rangers.
As a team, Parkside hit .114 while the Wildcats hit .286. Blocks were about even, with NMU winning that battle slightly 6-5.

The Rangers will battle the Wildcats on Saturday at 1 p.m. to close out the weekend.
