Box Score Parkside 68, Lake Superior State 54
The Parkside women's basketball team triumphed in their first matchup against Lake Superior State on Saturday thanks to a balanced scoring effort led by junior
Courtney Schoenbeck, who in her first Parkside start finished with 12 points and seven rebounds.
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Rangers controlled the contest from the outset after grabbing a 14-4 lead in the first six minutes of the game. They built on that lead over the next ten minutes, and led by 15 after a made layup from senior
Alexis Vaughn with 4:06 left in the second quarter. However, the Lakers did a good job closing out the half, finishing with an 8-1 run to bring Parkside's lead to just eight at the half.
Â
Out of the break, the Lakers were able to cut the Ranger lead to six, but that was as close as they would get. Back-to-back jumpers from junior
Alyssa Nelson and sophomore
Maja Leidefors started a 13-5 run down the stretch of the third quarter that essentially closed out the game.
