Northwestern 70, Parkside 58
Evanston, Ill. – The Parkside women's basketball team opened their 2021-2022 season with an exhibition game against the Northwestern Wildcats. The Rangers ran with the Division I team for most of the game, but in the end, it was the Big Ten team that prevailed.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Rangers started the game with lockdown defense, keeping the score low for most of the first quarter. When the second quarter began, the Rangers trailed 17-15. After a rally late in the second quarter, the Wildcats led 32-24 at the half. The Rangers rallied and were back within two points in the middle of the third quarter, but a well-timed timeout shifted the momentum in favor of the Wildcats. The Wildcats went on a run and outscored the Rangers 21-15 in the third quarter to jump out to a 53-39 lead. Despite the Rangers outscoring the Wildcats in the fourth quarter, the deficit was too much to overcome and the Wildcats walked away with a 70-58 victory.
